New York Nursing Schools & Degree Programs
Get your New York nursing degree
New York perhaps provides more opportunities for nursing education than any other state in the U.S. From New York City to Buffalo and from Long Island to Syracuse, prospective students can seek vocational LPN and RN certification, associate degrees, BSN, MSN and doctoral degrees in numerous specialties. Long Island University, for instance, has campuses in Brooklyn, Southampton and Brookville, and they offer all levels of degrees, especially at their Brooklyn campus. For more advanced degrees, students can attend SUNY, with campuses in Farmingdale, Delhi, Brooklyn, Suffern, Syracuse, Morrisville and Alfred. Smaller community colleges abound as well, with opportunities to earn all but the doctoral degree in many instances.
Statewide, the average salaries for LPN, RN and specialty nurses are among some of the highest in the nation, as they range between $17,000 and $93,000 annually, depending upon degree earned, years in the field, expertise and size of the health facility. This state and New York City in particular maintains numerous hospitals, medical centers and clinics that offer venues for employment. New York City alone has twenty-five hospitals. the largest is New York-Presbyterian Hospital with 2,233 certified beds and over 15,000 employees. Behind this hospital is the 1,717-bed Mount Sanai Medical Center, the 1,374-bed Beth Israel Medical Center and the 1,062-bed Montefiore Medical Center. Outside New York City, graduates can find employment anywhere in the state through systems such as Catholic Health System with locations in Buffalo, Kenmore, Lackawanna and Cheektowaga. The North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System maintains facilities in Great Neck, Valley Stream, Glen Cove and over ten other locations. Other hospitals and medical centers, too numerous to mention, can provide ample opportunity for employment at any level of education.
